Chandeliers and a Boxing Ring

I've been working in the advertising industry for almost a year, so I'm fortunate enough to be invited to many media parties with the full works, delicious gourmet apps, open bar, and sometimes free swag! This past week I attended a very different and exciting party. Advertising Week held its 2nd annual Agency Wars, which is a non-profit event. All proceeds from the event are generously donated to Ronald McDonald House Toronto. Interested participants from different agencies were encouraged to try out to fight for their agency. The prize was bragging rights and three strict (free) months of American Boxing training.

The event was held at Arcadian Court, a banquet hall in the Hudson's Bay building on Bay and Queen street. We ate a three course dinner and sipped wine while people in the boxing ring smashed the lights of out each other. Some of us couldn't bear to watch, but I enjoyed every minute of it ^_^.

My co-worker, Dan, was chosen to fight on behalf of our company, Media Experts. They saved the best for last, because he was the 'Main Event' of the night and boy was it rough! Not only did he win, he gave his opponent a bloody nose within two minutes of the first round. Reminds me of watching wrestling with my cousins when I was younger (random, I know, but I LOVED the WWF way back then). I was able to take these photos from ring side.

It's been a very busy month, so I haven't been putting my new camera purchase to good use, but I'm very pleased with how these photos turned out that night :)

Babies and Birthdays

I had a mini photoshoot with my little cousin, Arianna, back in the fall, which I've been meaning to share over facebook. The afternoon was gorgeous for a fall day, it was over 12 degrees and the sunshine was beaming. I hate to admit this as global warming is getting worse and worse, I enjoyed every minute of it! Beautiful coloured leaves and warm weather in the middle of November? Amazing.

Yesterday she celebrated her third birthday, I asked her what she wanted for her birthday and she whispered "Thomas", as in "Thomas the Train". I love how kids are still watching with this classic which has been around for more than 20 years...but just on their iPads.

It's hard for me to believe she's getting bigger every day. I secretly don't want her to grow up, but we all know that's not going to happen!

Cheers to a New Year!

Hello everyone, my first post! I've been thinking about starting a blog for some quite time, but knowing my lazy self, it dragged out for months. I thought this would be a great way to share (more like force myself) my photography, my crazy obsession with food, and random stuff I like.

My holiday felt nice and long. I had 11 days off work (more like 12 if you count food poisoning on the first day back)! I caught up with friends and attended quite a few famjams. I made green tea and toasted black sesame maracons over the break. Still mastering this high maintenance french cookie. Next on my list: chai tea, strawberry, and gingerbread!
